How it works
Enter the date you got married, met, moved in or started the job and the anniversary calculator counts the time since, the same way people count anniversaries: whole years first, then whole months, then the leftover days. It uses real calendar dates rather than a fixed 365-day year, so leap days are counted exactly. The totals underneath convert the same span into months, weeks, days and hours.
The countdown looks for the next time your date comes round: the same day and month in this year, or next year if it has already passed. A 29 February anniversary is observed on 1 March in non-leap years. For each upcoming anniversary the page shows the theme from the traditional and modern US wedding-anniversary gift lists (1st paper, 5th wood, 10th tin, 25th silver, 50th gold), and the “Milestones ahead” table mixes round anniversaries with round day counts — 1,000 days, 5,000 days and so on — sorted by date.
You can copy the summary, download it as a text file, or download a one-line
.ics calendar file that adds the next anniversary to Google Calendar, Outlook or
Apple Calendar as an all-day event. Everything is worked out in your browser with plain
JavaScript — the dates you type are never uploaded, stored or shared, and there are no ads or
sign-ups.
Frequently asked questions
How do I work out how long we have been together?
Enter the date it started and the calculator counts whole years first, then whole months, then the leftover days — the way people actually say it. From 14 June 2015 to 2 March 2024 that is 8 years, 8 months and 17 days, or 3,184 days in total. It uses real calendar dates rather than a fixed 365-day year, so leap days are counted exactly.
What is the traditional gift for each wedding anniversary?
The page shows both the traditional and the modern US list for whichever anniversary is coming up next: 1st paper (modern: clocks), 5th wood (silverware), 9th pottery or willow (leather), 10th tin or aluminium (diamond jewellery), 20th china (platinum), 25th silver, 40th ruby and 50th gold. Years with no entry on the traditional list are shown as “No traditional theme”.
When is a 29 February anniversary celebrated?
This calculator observes it on 1 March in non-leap years, so the countdown always lands on a real date and the anniversary number still increases every year. If you prefer to celebrate on 28 February, just set the anniversary date to 28 February — everything else, including the milestone table and the calendar reminder, follows the date you enter.
Is my anniversary date sent anywhere?
No. All the arithmetic, the gift lists and the .ics calendar file are generated in your browser with plain JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged, there is no sign-up and no ads, and the page keeps working offline once it has loaded.
