How it works

Add each of your houseplants with how often it needs water and the date you last watered it. The tool picks a sensible default interval from a built-in table of common houseplants — a snake plant every 21 days, a peace lily every 5, a fern every 3 — and you can override it for any plant. Choosing the dormant season stretches every interval by 50%, which is roughly how much less water most tropical houseplants use in autumn and winter.

From there it projects each plant forward and groups the results into a day-by-day calendar for the next 2 to 12 weeks, flagging anything already overdue. Copy the plan as text, download it as a CSV, or export an .ics calendar with one repeating all-day event per plant so the reminders land in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Your plant list is saved in this browser's local storage only — nothing is uploaded, and there is no account or sync.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I water my houseplants?

It depends on the plant, the pot and the light. As a starting point the tool uses typical growing-season intervals: ferns and herbs every 2–3 days, peace lilies about every 5, monstera, pothos, philodendron, spider plants and orchids about every 7, rubber plants every 10, succulents and aloe every 14, and snake plants, ZZ plants and cacti every 21. Pick the plant type and the interval fills in automatically, then adjust it for your own conditions — bright warm rooms dry out faster than cool shady ones.

Should I water less in winter?

Usually yes. Most tropical houseplants slow down when light levels drop, so the soil stays wet far longer and overwatering becomes the main way plants die indoors. Switching this tool to the dormant season stretches every interval by 50% — a 7-day plant becomes 11 days, a 21-day plant becomes 32. Treat it as a guide and always check the soil first: push a finger 2–3 cm in, and if it is still damp, skip that watering and wait for the next date.

Can I get watering reminders in my calendar?

Yes. Download the .ics file and import it into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Each plant becomes one repeating all-day event — "Water Monstera", repeating every 7 days — starting from its next due date, so you get a recurring reminder without installing an app. You can also copy the schedule as plain text or download it as a CSV for a spreadsheet or a printed chart on the fridge.
