How it works
Pick a situation and the generator fills a hand-written sentence template with a matching mishap — so a “Late for work” template only ever gets a late-for-work reason, and the result reads like something a human would actually send. The Believable tone sticks to everyday disasters (a cancelled train, a flat battery, a laptop stuck installing updates); Absurd goes for swans, sentient toasters and unionised spreadsheets; Any tone mixes both. Any situation pools all seven categories, picking a fresh one for every line. Duplicates inside a batch are filtered out, and each excuse is tagged with the situation and tone it came from.
Leave the seed box empty and every click of Generate excuses gives a new batch. Type anything into it and the results become reproducible: the same seed with the same situation, tone and count always returns the same list, which is handy if you want to send a friend the exact shortlist you were laughing at.
