How it works
Type or paste a phrase and the acronym generator takes the first letter of every word to build an acronym instantly — "Portable Network Graphics" becomes PNG. Small words such as a, the, of and and are skipped by default, the way real acronyms are formed (National Aeronautics and Space Administration → NASA), and you can turn that off with one checkbox. Take two or three letters per word instead of one for a syllable-style abbreviation, switch the letter case, add dots or hyphens, and check the breakdown to see exactly which letter came from which word. The Variations list gives you five ready-made alternatives to pick from.

What words should you skip in an acronym?
