How it works
Pick a paper size, an orientation and a ruling — wide, college, narrow, or your own spacing in millimetres — and the sheet is redrawn instantly in the preview. Every measurement is real: college ruled means lines exactly 7.1 mm apart, so the printed page matches a shop-bought pad. Adjust the four page margins, the line thickness and the colours, add a vertical margin rule, or switch on dashed midline guides for handwriting practice.
Download the sheet as a vector PDF (up to 20 identical pages, built in your browser with pdf-lib) so it prints razor sharp at any printer resolution, or grab the SVG to edit further. Print at 100% scale — not “fit to page” — to keep the spacing exact. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed: the whole generator runs client-side and keeps working offline once loaded.
Frequently asked questions
What line spacing should I use for wide, college or narrow ruled paper?
Wide ruled (sometimes called legal ruled) uses lines 8.7 mm apart, college ruled uses 7.1 mm, and narrow ruled uses 6.35 mm. Those three presets are built in, so the sheet you print matches a shop-bought pad exactly. Pick “Custom spacing” if you need something else — any value from 2 mm to 40 mm — and the preview and the line count update as you type.
How do I print the lined paper at the correct size?
Download the PDF and print it at 100% scale. In the print dialog choose “Actual size” or set custom scaling to 100% rather than “Fit to page” or “Shrink oversized pages”, because those options scale the sheet down by a few percent and the ruling would no longer measure 7.1 mm. Also make sure the paper size in the dialog matches the size you generated, A4 or US Letter.
Is my lined paper uploaded anywhere, and can I edit it further?
Nothing is uploaded. The preview is an SVG drawn in your browser and the multi-page PDF is assembled locally with pdf-lib, so the tool works offline once the page has loaded and needs no account. Both outputs are pure vector: download the SVG to open it in Inkscape, Illustrator or Figma and add a header, a logo or a name and date line.
