How it works
Type an amount, pick the two currencies and the converted value appears as you type — plus the same amount in every other currency in the table below. Every rate is quoted against the US dollar, so a conversion between two non-dollar currencies is a cross rate: the amount is first divided by the "from" rate to get dollars and then multiplied by the "to" rate. That is exactly how banks quote EUR/GBP or JPY/CHF, minus their spread.
The exchange rates are a fixed table baked into this page (1 August 2026), not a live market feed. That is a deliberate trade-off: there is no API key, no request to a rate provider, and nothing about the amounts you type ever leaves your device — the page even keeps working with the network switched off. For everyday estimates (a holiday budget, an invoice in another currency, a price you saw abroad) a reference rate is fine; for a real transaction, check the rate your bank or card actually gives you, which usually includes a 1–3% margin on top of the mid-market rate shown here.
