How it works
This calculator counts business days — every day in the range that is not a
weekend and not a holiday. It walks the range one day at a time, so the answer is exact rather
than an approximation from “weeks × 5”. With the default settings it matches Excel’s
NETWORKDAYS: both the start date and the end date are counted when they are
working days. Untick Include the end date if your deadline convention is exclusive.
The second mode matches Excel’s WORKDAY: the start date is day 0 and the tool steps
forward (or backward) until it has counted the requested number of working days.
Weekends are configurable — untick Saturday and Sunday and tick Friday instead for a
Sunday-to-Thursday working week. The two holiday presets are calculated in your browser for any
year, not looked up in a table. US federal holidays use the official observance
rule: a holiday on a Saturday is observed the Friday before and one on a Sunday the Monday
after. UK bank holidays (England & Wales) use Good Friday and Easter Monday
derived from the Gregorian Easter algorithm, the first and last Mondays in May, the last Monday
in August, and substitute days when New Year, Christmas or Boxing Day fall at a weekend; the
one-off royal holidays of 2020, 2022 and 2023 are included too. Anything else — company
shutdowns, regional holidays, personal leave — goes in the extra-holidays box, one date per
line as 2024-03-29 or 29/3/2024. A line the tool cannot read is
skipped and named underneath, so one typo never costs you the whole answer. Weekends,

Everything runs locally in your browser with plain JavaScript. Your dates are never uploaded, and there is no sign-up, no tracking of what you typed and no ads.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a business day?
By default a business day is any Monday to Friday. You can switch which weekdays count as working days and add your own holiday dates, which are then excluded from the total.
Are the start and end dates included?
The calculator counts every working day in the range including both endpoints, which is the convention used for contract and delivery windows.
Does it handle public holidays?
Yes, paste or pick the holiday dates that apply to you. Holidays that fall on a non-working weekday are removed once, never twice.
