How it works
Press “Start dictation”, allow microphone access once, and speak: the browser's built-in Web Speech API turns your voice into text and drops each finished sentence into the transcript box, live. The transcript is a normal editable text area, so you can fix a word, keep dictating, then copy it or download it as a .txt file. Spoken punctuation commands (“period”, “comma”, “question mark”, “new line”, “new paragraph”) are converted automatically while “Auto punctuation & capitals” is on, and “Tidy up text” applies the same clean-up to anything you paste in.
There is no account, no upload form and no file ever leaves your device — the transcript lives only in this browser tab and disappears when you close it. Note that speech recognition itself is handled by your browser: Chrome and Edge send the audio to their own speech service to recognise it, which is why an internet connection is needed for dictation. Everything TinyToolz does — the editing, punctuation clean-up, word count, copy and download — happens entirely in your browser, and we never see or store a single word.

How do I convert speech to text for free?
Open this page, pick your language, press "Start dictation" and allow microphone access once. Speak normally and your words appear in the transcript box as you talk. When you are done, press stop, fix anything you want in the editable text area, then copy the text or download it as a .txt file. There is no account, no time limit and no ads.
Does this speech to text tool work offline?
The editing, punctuation clean-up, word count, copy and download all run offline in your browser. The recognition step does not: Chrome and Edge hand the audio to their own built-in speech service, so dictation needs an internet connection. TinyToolz never receives your audio or your transcript — nothing is uploaded to us and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
Which browsers support voice typing?
Voice typing uses the Web Speech API, supported by Chrome, Edge, Safari and most Chromium-based browsers on desktop and Android. Firefox does not enable it, so the page shows a clear notice there and you can still type, paste, tidy up, copy and download your transcript by hand.
