This page holds a hand-picked collection of riddles with answers — classic “what am I?” riddles, easy ones for kids, hard lateral-thinking puzzles, maths and logic brain teasers, and funny wordplay. Pick a category and a difficulty, or search: the search box looks at the riddle and its answer, so you can type “keyboard” or “echo” to find the riddle you half-remember. The answer stays hidden behind the Reveal answer button (and behind each row in the browse list) so nobody spoils it by accident — tick “Show all answers” when you want a printable answer key.
The whole collection is a curated set of 148 riddles embedded in the page, not an exhaustive
archive: well-known riddles chosen so every answer is a checkable, standard one rather than
tens of thousands of near-duplicates. Everything runs in your browser with plain JavaScript — no account, no ads and
no server call, so nothing you search for is logged. “Random riddle” uses your browser's
cryptographic random number generator; add ?seed=42 to the URL if you want the
same shuffle order every time, which is handy for running the same quiz twice. Copy puts the
current riddle and its answer on your clipboard and Download saves every riddle currently

What is a good riddle with an answer?
A good riddle sounds impossible until the answer makes it obvious. The classic example on this page is “I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with the wind. What am I?” — an echo. Others in the same vein: “What has keys but opens no locks, space but no room, and lets you enter but not go inside?” (a keyboard), “The more of me you take, the more you leave behind” (footsteps), and “What gets wetter the more it dries?” (a towel). What is the answer to the bat and ball riddle?
The ball costs 5 cents, not 10. If a bat and a ball cost $1.10 together and the bat costs $1.00 more than the ball, then the ball is $0.05 and the bat is $1.05 — a difference of exactly $1.00, adding up to $1.10. The popular wrong answer of 10 cents would make the bat $1.10 and the total $1.20. It is the best-known item on the Cognitive Reflection Test, and the maths category here includes several more with worked answers: the snail climbing a 10-metre well takes 8 days, a clock that strikes 6 in 5 seconds takes 11 seconds to strike 12, and 888 + 88 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 1000 using eight 8s.
