How it works
Paste your text and every punctuation mark — commas, periods, question marks, quotes, brackets, colons, em dashes and slashes — is stripped instantly as you type. The tool matches punctuation by Unicode category rather than a short list of ASCII characters, so curly quotes, Spanish ¿¡, CJK 。、 and other non-English marks are removed too. Two smart options are on by default: apostrophes and hyphens inside words are kept, so "don't" and "well-known" survive while stray quote marks and dashes disappear. Turn them off for a hard strip, or add the options to drop numbers, symbols, or to lowercase everything — useful when preparing text for word-frequency analysis, NLP tokenising or CSV cleanup. Everything runs in your browser with JavaScript: your text is never uploaded, so it is safe for confidential documents.

Can I remove punctuation but keep apostrophes and hyphens?
Yes. Two options are checked by default: "Keep apostrophes inside words" and "Keep hyphens inside words", so "don't" and "well-known" stay intact while stray quote marks and loose dashes are still removed. Uncheck them for a hard strip that turns "don't" into "dont".
Does this punctuation remover work with non-English text?
Yes. It matches punctuation by Unicode category instead of a short ASCII list, so curly quotes, Spanish ¿ and ¡, French guillemets and CJK marks like 。and 、are removed too. Letters with accents and non-Latin scripts are left untouched.
