How it works
Drop in a photo or screenshot of a QR code — or hit Scan with camera and hold the code up to your webcam or phone — and the decoded content appears immediately. The image is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and decoded with a JavaScript QR reader, so nothing is ever uploaded: no server sees your Wi-Fi password, your ticket or the link inside the code. The scanner recognises plain text, URLs, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards, email, SMS and phone codes, and splits Wi-Fi and contact codes into readable fields. Links are never opened automatically — you always see the full address first, which is the whole point of checking a suspicious QR code before you tap it. For blurry photos, crop closer to the code and make sure the whole square, including its white border, is visible.

How do I scan a QR code from an image or screenshot?
Drag the picture onto the drop zone, click it to browse, or simply paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). The image is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and decoded straight away — the decoded text, plus any Wi-Fi or contact fields inside it, appear below with Copy and Download buttons. If nothing is found, crop closer to the code and make sure the whole square, including its white border, is visible.
Can I scan a QR code without an app?
Yes. Press "Scan with camera" and your browser asks for camera permission; hold the code in front of your webcam or phone camera and it is read as soon as it comes into focus. No app install, no account, and if you would rather not grant camera access you can upload or paste a photo of the code instead.
Is it safe to scan a QR code online?
With this scanner, yes: the image and every camera frame are decoded locally by JavaScript in your browser and are never uploaded to a server, so a Wi-Fi password or event ticket inside the code stays on your device. Links are never opened automatically either — you see the full address and its hostname first, so you can check a suspicious QR code before deciding whether to visit it.
