Packing List Generator
Build a personalised travel packing checklist from your trip type, climate, nights away and travellers — with quantities worked out for you.
How it works
Pick a trip type, the climate, how many nights you are away and how many people are packing. The generator builds a categorised checklist from a curated list of about a hundred travel items and only shows the ones that match your trip — swimwear appears when you tick “Swimming / beach”, thermals when the climate is cold, a 100 ml liquids bag when you are carry-on only, nappies when you travel with a baby.
Clothing quantities are worked out from the number of days, where a trip of N nights covers N + 1 days. Underwear and socks use one pair per day plus one spare, tops one per day, bottoms one per three days, sleepwear one per week plus one. Ticking “Laundry available” caps those at a week’s worth (7 pairs of underwear, 5 tops), and everything per-person is multiplied by the number of travellers. So 6 nights for one person gives 8 pairs of underwear, 7 tops and 3 bottoms; with laundry that becomes 7, 5 and 3.
Tick items off as you pack — the counter tracks your progress — add your own items at the bottom, then copy the list as a Markdown checklist or download it as a text file. Everything is generated in your browser with plain JavaScript: no account, no ads, and your trip details never leave your device.
Frequently asked questions
How many clothes should I pack for a week?
For a 6-night trip (7 days) the generator suggests 8 pairs of underwear and socks (one per day plus a spare), 7 tops, 3 bottoms and 2 sets of sleepwear per person. Tick "Laundry available" and those drop to 7, 5 and 3 — a week's worth that you top up on the road.
How are the quantities calculated?
A trip of N nights covers N + 1 days. Daily-wear items use quantity = ceil(days × rate) + spare: underwear and socks at 1 per day plus 1, tops at 1 per day, bottoms at 1 per 3 days, sleepwear at 1 per week plus 1. Laundry caps those at a week's worth, and per-person items are multiplied by the number of travellers.
Can I add my own items and keep the list?
Yes. Type anything into "Add your own item" and it joins a "My extras" section, and you can tick items off as you pack. Use Copy checklist to grab it as a Markdown to-do list for your notes app, or Download .txt to keep a copy. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
