How it works

Fill in your page title, description and URL and the meta tag generator writes the full block of HTML head tags for you — title, meta description, canonical link, robots, author and keywords, plus Open Graph tags for Facebook, LinkedIn and Slack and a Twitter/X Card. Open Graph and Twitter values are filled in automatically from the main fields, so you never have to repeat yourself, and every value is HTML-escaped so quotes and ampersands can't break your markup. The live character counters and the Google result preview show you straight away when a title or description is too long to be shown in full. Paste the output between the <head> tags of your page, or download it as a snippet. Everything runs in your browser with plain JavaScript — no ads, no sign-up, and nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add meta tags to a website?

Fill in the fields above, click Copy meta tags, and paste the block inside the <head> element of your HTML page — before the closing </head> tag. If you use a CMS or framework, paste the same tags into its head/SEO section or layout template. You can also download the block as meta-tags.html and keep it as a snippet.

What meta tags do I need for SEO?

At minimum a unique <title>, a meta description, a canonical link and a robots tag. Add Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url) so Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and WhatsApp show a proper preview card, and a twitter:card tag for X. This generator writes all of them, filling the Open Graph and Twitter values from your title and description automatically.

How long should a title and meta description be?

Aim for about 60 characters for the title and 155 for the description — beyond that Google usually truncates them in search results. The live counters and Google result preview on this page warn you as soon as you cross either limit, so you can trim before you publish.
