How it works

Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC or WebM file and it is decoded straight inside your browser tab with the Web Audio API — nothing is uploaded, so a podcast edit, a voice memo or an unreleased mix never leaves your device. Set how many seconds the fade in and the fade out should last and every sample is multiplied by a volume envelope that is drawn right on top of the waveform, so you can see exactly where the music starts swelling and where it dies away.

The curve changes how the volume travels between silence and full level. Linear is the plain straight ramp; Smooth eases in and out at both ends and is the most natural for music; Exponential stays quiet longer before rushing up, which suits dramatic intros; Logarithmic jumps up quickly and then levels off, good for trimming an abrupt start.
